Genie Bartlett, APRN, MSN, FNP-C is a family nurse practitioner. She grew up in upstate NY, and moved to several places around the country as well as Germany before settling in Longview, TX. She started nursing with her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma. Her nursing career has included experience in NICU, inpatient and outpatient pediatric care, as well as OB/GYN.
After working as nurse supervisor on the surgical floor at Christus Good Shepherd for 5 years, she became the director of the LVN program at Kilgore College. While there she earned her Master’s in Nursing from Texas Tech and UT Tyler. She returned to Kilgore College to direct the ADN program and became the Dean for Math, Science, and Health programs. Meanwhile, she obtained her Family Nurse Practitioner certification from Texas Tech, married, and raised 3 children. (Sounds pretty crazy!)
Her first position as a Nurse Practitioner was at ETMC in Gilmer in family practice for 3 years. Then God was kind enough to bring her to work with Dr. McCrory in 2007. She has loved all of her work positions, but working at 1st choice has been her favorite so far. Spending time with sweet, loving kids, laughing, hugging, and watching them grow up brings joy to her life. She has been doing this long enough that she now has “grand patients” – patients she’s been seeing all their lives who are now coming back to see her with babies of their own!
She married her wonderful husband, Jim, in 1988 and they have 3 children – a boy and 2 girls, and 5 grandchildren. She & Jim love to travel, and their favorite places so far are Kauai, New York City, Paris, and of course to visit grandchildren. They have also gone on many mission trips to Guatemala, Mexico, Belize, and the Navajo Nation.
